Nour Amri, MS, CNS, LDN, is a Licensed Integrative Nutritionist and a Certified Nutrition Specialist. Nour earned her Master’s degree from Maryland University of Integrative Health, and became certified as a Mind-Body Medicine Facilitator from Georgetown University School of Medicine.
Nour’s approach to nutritional well-being applies the principles of Integrative and Functional Nutrition, which emphasize healthy eating personalized to the genetics, environment, lifestyle, and health concerns of each client.
“Food is not just about calories and energy; food provides information that contributes to modulating health and disease, and a major component to the emerging science of Epigenetics. More and more research is confirming that poor dietary habits and lifestyle can initiate a myriad of illnesses and chronic disease.
Nour also works with her clients on optimizing their gut health, using food as medicine, and making recommendations for therapeutic food plans that boost the immune system and nourish the body.
As a member of Kaplan’s multidisciplinary team of medical providers, she helps patients implement dietary and lifestyle changes through designing individualized nutritional plans and assessing their progress.
Nour’s other focus is research. Most recently, Nour worked extensively alongside Dr. Kaplan on a project that looked at the human gut microbiome and its role in the pathophysiology of chronic pain and depression. Currently, she is working with a team on developing dietary plans for a variety of neuroinflammatory and autoimmune conditions that are mostly seen in the clinic.
In 2016 Nour did a poster presentation at the International Congress of Integrative Medicine and Health (ICIMH), in Las Vegas, Nevada, titled “Conventional Treatment for Ulcerative Colitis: An Attempt to Treat or Aggravate the Disease”.
