Patricia Alomar, PT

Patricia Alomar, MS, PT

Physical Therapist

Patricia Alomar, MS, PT, has decades of experience helping people of all ages address and overcome their chronic pain, injuries, and disabilities.

Bio

Prior to joining the Kaplan Center, Pat directed an alternative physical therapy practice in Bethesda, Maryland; maintained a private practice, and served as a Clinical IV Specialist with Georgetown University Hospital’s Physical Medicine Department. In addition, Pat worked as a visiting physical therapist at the Upledger Institute providing intensive services to patients with brain and spinal cord injuries.

Pat’s educational background includes a earning a BS in Science from Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY, an MS in Physical Education from Montana State University, and a BS in Physical Therapy from Howard University in Washington, DC. In addition, Pat has continued to take advanced courses in visceral manipulation, craniosacral therapy and neurological assessment and treatment at the highly regarded Upledger/Barral Institute in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Pat is expert in treating adults and children suffering with a variety of disorders ranging from Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), chronic headache, Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ), back pain, digestive issues, and more.

In 2019 Pat became a licensed Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) practitioner. FSM is a technique that works by delivering a very mild, low-level electrical current to specific parts of the body to assist and speed up the healing process (learn more about FSM here). By customizing the frequency settings, based on the type of tissue involved and her patient’s condition, Pat is able to effectively address a variety of issues ranging from fibromyalgia pain and sports injuries to IBS and neuropathies.

Pat describes her personal philosophy of care in the following way, “As a Physical Therapist, my first goal is to help patients become more attuned their own bodies. I listen to what patients say, but I also pay attention to what their muscles, tendons, and viscera tell me. The body has its own, very powerful wisdom, and time and time again, I’ve witnessed the body’s incredible power to heal, especially when given comprehensive therapeutic support.”

Lindsay

Terrific! I am so happy with everything I have encountered at the Kaplan Center. The front desk people are warm and wonderful and my Physical Therapist, Pat, has magic hands. I have been six times now and wish I could continue past insurance limits. From years of different treatments including surgery, different kinds of PT at different places, back and knee braces and exercises, 100s of pills for pain, muscle relaxers, stress, anxiety etc… finally, one of my doctors recommended therapist Pat at the Kaplan Center. He explained she does a different therapy from anything else I had tried. Because I had resigned myself to a life of depression, frustration and pain, I jumped at the possibility of help. After the first visit I was able to sleep all night without sleep aids. After each session, I could tell things were shifting in my body. My constant headache was gone, I was sleeping better, my knees where changing, my depression was less… I just felt better. I wanted to exercise, I wanted to eat, following months of nausea, so after ten years, I actually was better. And I continue to be better. I highly recommend The Kaplan Center and Pat specifically.
