I got my life back.
Dr. Lisa and I worked together to increase the dosage and miraculously, the hot flashes and night sweats stopped. Stopped. It was unbelievable. I got my life back.
Menopause for me was not normal. Not by any stretch of the imagination. It was a living Hell. Simple suggestions to “open the window” or “dress in layers” or “carry a fan” were useless in my case. Imagine trying to put out a house fire with a tiny plant sprayer. 17 fires per daylight; 4 fires per sleep cycle. Never ending. Ever. The hot “flashes” felt like a taser gun, starting at my head and rushing down the front of my body. I would sweat profusely and feel helpless. In public. In private. In bed. I tried every over-the-counter health store point-of-purchase relief being touted for menopause. Nothing worked.
I was afraid to try HRT because cardiologists stated “you’re not a candidate; there are too many associated risk factors.” I’ve lived a healthy lifestyle and never smoked cigarettes. I’ve been a competitive athlete for more than 50 years and exercised daily. My weight has been the same since high school. I eat a very healthy diet, including plenty of fruits and vegetables. All of the wisdom professed by the medical community regarding the “best ways” to relieve hot flashes did nothing to ease my very real pain and suffering.
My quality of life plummeted and I was veritably depressed by my situation. Against all odds, it was Dr. Lisa Lilienfield who ENCOURAGED me to try HRT. Dr. Lisa emphasized that the studies from 20 years ago were flawed. The increased risk for cardiovascular events were grossly overblown. So, after suffering for almost 3 years I finally “took the plunge” and I started with my HRT therapy. “Life Changing” is an understatement for what happened. The hot flashes subsided almost completely. Dr. Lisa and I worked together to increase the dosage and miraculously, the hot flashes and night sweats stopped. Stopped. It was unbelievable. I got my life back.
Thanks to Dr. Lisa, I am forever indebted for her courage to prescribe medications that would truly give back my quality of life. Today, there’s been proven scientific evidence that the Women’s Health Initiative was incorrect. There was never any reason to suffer with uncontrollable hot flashes. Never. Ever.
