Overuse Injuries
Overuse injuries often occur in athletes who sustain small, repeated injuries over time, eventually leading to a more serious joint or muscle injury. Symptoms of an over-use injury can include pain, stiffness, and swelling, depending on its location and severity. Examples of overuse injuries are tendinitis, inflammation, stress fractures, tennis elbow, and any other related injury that develops over time.
Following proper technique and training principles can often prevent over-use injuries. Using incorrect form while exercising or increasing the frequency, intensity, and duration of your training too quickly will increase your risk for developing an overuse injury. If you have suffered an overuse injury, it is critical to receive a complete and accurate diagnosis to ensure the most effective and appropriate treatment for your situation.

How We Can Help
At The Kaplan Center, our physicians have years of experience treating patients with overuse injuries and other chronic pain conditions, and we completely reject the notion that “you just have to live with it.”
At your first visit, your Kaplan physician will take time exploring the onset of your condition, the specific nature of your symptoms and the overall status of your health. You’ll also be asked about the medications and therapies you’ve tried in the past, and what has and hasn’t worked for you. To gather additional information about your condition, specialized diagnostic laboratory testing may be necessary.
After reviewing all of the factors contributing to your condition, your physician will spend time talking with you about your diagnosis and working with you to create a customized and multi-dimensional treatment plan that addresses not only your immediate pain but also any possible underlying or co-existing conditions that may be causing or aggravating your symptoms.
The Kaplan Center specializes in pain management without surgery
Depending on the nature of your overuse injury, your treatment may incorporate a variety of non-surgical therapies effective in resolving difficult joint and muscle pain, including but not limited to the following:
- Acupuncture
- Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP)
- Prolotherapy
- Physical Therapy
- NAD+ IV Therapy
- Nutritional Counseling
- Prescription Medication
