Headaches

November 7, 2012/in Active Condition, Osteopath/by Website Administrator

Almost everyone suffers from a headache at some point in their life. But if you have frequent headaches, you understand how debilitating they can be. There are various types of headaches, including tension headaches, vascular headaches such as migraines, and headaches that best understood as symptoms of illness or injury. Determining the cause of your headache is essential to resolving it.

For example, if an individual is suffering from a headache due to sinusitis or Lyme disease, the infection will need to be addressed before the headache will resolve. On the other hand, a headache can signal a concussion or even a stroke, conditions that may require hospitalization. A tension headache, which develops as the result of tight muscles in the head, neck and jaw area may be alleviated by taking over-the-counter pain medication. But a tension headache that has been exacerbated by stress, depression or anxiety, might require more intensive treatment. Given the wide variety of problems that can trigger a headache, getting a complete and accurate diagnosis is essential to ensure that you receive effective treatment for your unique situation.

How We Can Help

At the Kaplan Center, our physicians have years of experience treating patients with chronic conditions such as chronic headaches and migraines, and we completely reject the notion that “you just have to live with it.”

At your first visit, your Kaplan physician will take time exploring the onset of your condition, the specific nature of your symptoms and the overall status of your health. You’ll also be asked about the medications and therapies you’ve tried in the past, and what has and hasn’t worked for you. To gather additional information about your condition, specialized diagnostic laboratory testing may be necessary.

After reviewing all of the factors contributing to your condition, your physician will spend time talking with you about your diagnosis and working with you to create a customized and multi-dimensional treatment plan that addresses not only your immediate pain but also any possible underlying or co-existing conditions that may be causing or aggravating your symptoms.

We offer a multitude of effective treatment options, including:

  • Acupuncture
  • Craniosacral Therapy
  • Frequency Specific Microcurrent
  • Herbal Remedies & Nutritional Supplements
  • Magnesium or Vitamin IVs
  • Nutritional Counseling
  • Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine
  • Perineural Injection Therapy (PIT)
  • Physical Therapy
  • Prescription Medications

We are here for you, and we want to help.

Our goal is to return you to optimal health as soon as possible. To schedule an appointment please call: 703-532-4892 x2
