Pelvic Pain
Pelvic pain occurs in the lower abdominal area of the body and is associated with a wide range of medical disorders. In women, vulvodynia, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, reproductive issues, or a urinary tract or other infection may be causing or contributing to the pain. In men, prostate dysfunction, a urinary tract or other infection may be the root of the problem. For either sex, there are cases where the muscles and ligaments in the pelvic region may be strained or tight. Sometimes pelvic pain may be caused by “referred pain” from another area of the body, such as the hip or low back.
Since a variety of medical issues can cause pelvic pain, it is critical that you receive an accurate and complete diagnosis to ensure that you find a long-lasting and effective treatment.
How We Can Help
At the Kaplan Center, our physicians have years of experience treating patients with pelvic pain and other chronic pain conditions. We completely reject the notion that “you just have to live with it.”
At your first visit, your Kaplan physician will take time exploring the onset of your condition, the specific nature of your symptoms and the overall status of your health. You’ll also be asked about the medications and therapies you’ve tried in the past, and what has and hasn’t worked for you. To gather additional information about your condition, specialized diagnostic laboratory testing may be necessary.
After reviewing all of the factors contributing to your condition, your physician will spend time talking with you about your diagnosis and working with you to create a customized and multi-dimensional treatment plan that addresses not only your immediate pain but also any possible underlying or co-existing conditions that may be causing or aggravating your symptoms.
We offer a multitude of effective treatment options, including:
- Acupuncture
- Biofeedback
- Frequency Specific Microcurrent
- Medications
- Physical Therapy
- Prolotherapy
- Psychotherapy
- Stress-Management Meditation Training
In rare cases, surgery might be your best option. If this occurs, we will coordinate with any other medical providers involved in your case and stay the course with you throughout your treatment and recovery plan.
We are here for you, and we want to help.
