Evaluating Your Musculoskeletal System
Our comprehensive physical exam incorporates an evaluation of your entire musculoskeletal system, including the effect that your posture, gait, and any physical abnormalities that might be affecting your weight distribution and balance. This type of comprehensive process will help identify or rule out other possible causes of your pain, such as arthritis in your lower back, a herniated disk, metastatic cancer, a muscle tear due to overuse, muscle tension due to poor posture, a bone fracture due to osteoporosis, low magnesium, or even psychological stress.
Musculoskeletal Testing
- Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) or Osteopathic Manual Therapy (OMT) is a non-invasive, manual means of assessing distinct pain response patterns and accurately diagnosing many types of chronic pain and illness.
- Analysis of Posture, Gait, and Physical Abnormalities allows your doctor to visually evaluate the places in your body that are bearing unnatural weight as you attempt to accommodate chronic pain.
- X-rays & MRIs* can be powerful tools to help identify (or rule out) potential causes joint pain, such as a labral tear, herniated disk, or the presence of a cyst or tumor.
*When an X-ray or MRI is prescribed, we provide our patients with trusted outside referrals.
