These Super Foods Add Super Flavor & Nutrition!

Spinach Blueberry Smoothie

Berries can be among the healthiest foods you can eat. They are not only delicious, but they all have anti-inflammatory effects. And, they not only aid in reducing inflammation, but they can protect the brain from aging and prevent diseases, such as cancer and dementia. But remember, when shopping for berries aim for organic berries if possible, as pesticides are hard to wash away due to their size.

Spinach adds the extra punch of nutrition! It’s low in saturated fat and cholesterol, and a great source of dietary fiber!

Note: This recipe can be adjusted to your taste, with whatever berries you may have on hand!

Ingredients:

1 cup of blueberries
1 cup of spinach
¾ cup of Greek yogurt
1 tablespoon of raw honey or maple syrup
½ cup of water
5 ice cubes

 
Instructions: Add everything to a blender and process until smooth. Serve immediately or freeze in mason jars. Raw almonds on the side are a great addition to this meal to add some extra protein and healthy fats. Enjoy!
